Now when it comes to my favorite kind of art, it's not usually displayed in art galleries or local museums. The art I have fallen in love with is those made for other means, means like as cover art for games, or conceptual art or illustrations for movies, books, or again games. Below are works of art found in various books for the game Warhammer 40,000 depicting my favorite greenskinned race, Da Space Orkz. All of the credit goes to a very talented individual named Adrian Smith. If you want to see more of his art I have a link to his homepage in the Links page

urukthraka.jpg

Here is a picture depicting a battle in the world of Warhammer 40,000. To the right are the Orkz led by the Great Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka (The very large Ork in the metal suit) and the left the local army of Armageddon, the Steel Legion. I love this piece personally not only because my favorite race in the Warhammer universe is in it, but my favorite great icon of the orkz is in it, Uruk Thraka himself. The towering brute's pressence in the work and his backstory all together inspires me to make a huge army of orkz in the hobby I play, the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game.

orks.jpg

Here is a work of art covering the ancient times of the Warhammer universe, where Warhammer 40,000 takes place in the 41st millenium, Warhammer is in ancient, fantasy times where knights still exsist and undead walk the earth. Here is a big horde of greenskins lead by a great Warboss. The bigger one in the large armor is the Boss and the smaller ones the soldiers, while the even smaller goblins are the slaves of the army and "cannon fodder" in rank. Adrian Smith did a fantastic job in this piece.

blackorks.jpg

As orks age and survive more fights and really get some good scars to show off to the rest of the lads, they continuously grow bigger, become stronger, and become darker skinned, their shade become more blacker and "greener" as they say. The darker your skin is and the bigger you are, the more important and tougher you are in their society. This painting depicts a group of Black Orkz. Black Orkz are the elite soldiers of the army in the ancient Warhammer times, having survived many battles and collected big suits of armor to go along side their rank. I love the level of detail and the way the orange background goes with the orkz.

stormboyz.jpg

Now here we go back to the 41st millenium. These individuals are the Stormboyz. They call them stormboyz because thats exactly what they do, they take the enemies by storm with their equipment. As you can see these "boyz" have huge "rokkitz" strapped to their backs which they ignite and use to throw themselves right into the fight from very far away. As a comical note it is not uncommon to usually see one of the packs fail and see one or two cork screw in the air only to blow up while all the rest of the orkz point and laugh.
